Eternity Rings

An eternity ring carries diamonds the entire way around the band — no beginning, no end, which is where the name comes from. It is traditionally an anniversary or milestone ring rather than a wedding band, though plenty of people wear one as both.

Understand the trade before you buy. Because the stones run the full circumference, an eternity ring **cannot be resized**. There is no plain section of metal to cut and rejoin. Fingers change over decades, and when they do the only remedies are having the ring remade or wearing it on another finger. If you want diamonds all the way round with the option to resize later, a three-quarter coverage band looks identical on the hand and keeps the plain section underneath.

The settings differ in how much metal shows. Channel setting sinks the stones between two walls of metal — the most protective, the most durable, slightly less brilliant. Shared prong shows more diamond and less metal, and sparkles more. Flush or bezel setting sits each stone level with the surface: the most secure of all, and the best choice for someone who works with their hands.
