Curved & Contoured Wedding Bands

These are the bands shaped to solve a specific problem: an engagement ring whose centre stone or setting sits too low, too wide or too flared for a straight band to sit against it. Instead of a gap, the band curves, notches or nests around the setting.

It is a more common problem than people realise. Any ring with a halo, a hidden halo, a low basket or a flared cathedral shoulder will usually leave a visible wedge of space next to a straight band — and once you notice it, you keep noticing it. Two rings that touch along their whole length read as a set; two rings with a gap read as two rings.

The shapes here do it in different ways. A gentle curve suits a ring with a slightly raised centre. A chevron or V-shape is made for marquise and pear settings, following the point. A contoured band traces the outline of a halo. Nested bands are cut to sit partly underneath the engagement ring.

If you are unsure which shape your ring needs, the deciding factor is where the setting is widest — the band has to clear that point without lifting away from the finger.
