2 Carat Pear Shaped Diamonds

Two carats gives a pear roughly 12 by 8 mm: large enough that every asymmetry in the outline is on display, and large enough that a good one is genuinely arresting. This is a shape that rewards patience in the choosing.

Judge in this order. Outline symmetry first — shoulders mirrored, curve unbroken, point centred. Bow-tie second, in the 360° view. Clarity third, at VS2 or better, with inclusions kept away from the point where no prong can hide them. Colour last: at G or H a pear of this size still reads white in white metal.

On protection: two carats concentrated into one thin tip is the most fragile geometry we sell. A V-prong is mandatory, not optional, and it is worth asking the jeweller to show you how the tip sits before the ring is finished.
