Lab-Grown Emerald Cut Diamonds
Of all the shapes, the emerald cut makes the strongest case for lab-grown — and the reason is in the cutting room rather than the marketing.
A step cut needs a long, clean, well-formed piece of rough, and mined rough that qualifies is scarce. Cut an emerald from anything less and the inclusions land in plain view, so the stones that work carry a real premium for clarity. Grown material starts closer to the shape and the size the cutter wants, so the clarity that this shape demands stops being the expensive part.
Take advantage of that rather than converting all of it into carat weight. VS1 or VVS2 in an emerald cut is not a vanity purchase — it is what keeps those open mirror planes empty. The same logic applies to colour: an emerald cut carries its body colour along the full length of each flash, so buy F or G here even though you would happily take an H in a round.
Then check the corners and the symmetry in the 360° video. In a step cut, uneven facet lines are visible in a way they simply are not in a brilliant, and no report grade communicates that as clearly as watching the stone turn.
